Austrian Society for Astronomy and Astrophysics (ÖGAA)

Research, teaching, and public outreach

ÖGAA is an association of Austrian astronomical institutions and individuals who have the goal to promote and disseminate astronomy and astrophysics in research, teaching and the public. Furthermore, the ÖGAA sees itself as the nationwide point of contact for society, politics, business, and the media - we coordinate the common interests of Austrian astronomers.

International partners

ÖGAA is an affiliated organization of the European Astronomical Society and partner of the German-speaking Astronomical Society. Thus, the ÖGAA also represents the interests of Austrian astronomy in the European context.

ÖGAA follows the Code of Conduct of the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

Platform for astronomy and astrophysics

All professional and a large number of popular education institutions are already members of ÖGAA. Well over 200 individuals from astronomical research and related areas as well as dedicated representatives of popular education and amateur astronomy, guarantee the broad Austria-wide basis of the ÖGAA.
